The Florida RV Trade Association officially entered a new chapter on April 18, 2026, as Ken Loyd assumed the role of Executive Director following the retirement of longtime FRVTA Director, Dave Kelly.
After assuming the role in October 2025 to work alongside Kelly during the transition process, Ken now takes the helm of the FRVTA with a clear vision for the future and a commitment to strengthening the association’s role as a leader within Florida and throughout the RV industry nationwide.
For many members, Ken is already a familiar face. His involvement with the FRVTA, campground operations, and industry leadership spans many years, providing him with a broad understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing dealers, campgrounds, manufacturers, suppliers, and associate members.
A Familiar Face Within the Association
Prior to becoming Executive Director, Ken served as General Manager of Keystone Heights RV Resort. Before that, he held leadership roles at Flamingo Lake RV Resort in Jacksonville, where he served as Assistant General Manager, Vice President, and Director of Marketing until the property was sold to Sun RV Resorts in 2020.
Throughout those years, Ken developed extensive experience in operations, marketing, customer service, event planning, revenue management, and team leadership. His work in the campground and resort sector allowed him to develop a strong understanding of consumer behavior, customer expectations, and the evolving needs of RV travelers.
Those experiences continue to shape his approach to association leadership today.
A Career Built on Business Leadership
While many members know Ken through his campground and association involvement, his professional background extends far beyond the RV industry.
Ken began his career with Burris Logistics in Delaware at the age of 19. Over the course of 15 years, he advanced from merchandiser to Southeast Region Sales Manager, gaining valuable experience in sales, logistics, operations, and business development.
He later held leadership positions with Hanover Foods Corporation and Crossmark Sales and Marketing, where he progressed through a variety of management roles including Retail Operations Manager.
His background in strategic planning, team development, customer relations, and operational management provides a strong foundation for leading an organization as diverse as the FRVTA.
Understanding the Entire RV Industry Ecosystem
One of Ken’s greatest strengths is his ability to understand the interconnected nature of the RV industry.
The FRVTA membership includes RV dealers, RV resorts, campgrounds, manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, and a wide variety of associate members. Each sector plays a critical role in the success of the industry, and Ken has spent much of his career working directly with many of those stakeholders.
His experience managing RV resorts has given him insight into the campground side of the business. His years of association leadership have strengthened his understanding of dealer operations and member services. His marketing background has helped him appreciate the importance of consumer outreach and industry promotion.
As Executive Director, Ken believes one of the association’s greatest strengths is its ability to bring all segments of the industry together for a common purpose.
Focused on Member Value and Industry Growth
As he begins his tenure as Executive Director, Ken is focused on enhancing the value the FRVTA provides to its members.
His priorities include strengthening member engagement, expanding educational opportunities, supporting regional leadership, growing industry partnerships, and continuing to position the association as a trusted voice within the RV industry.
He also recognizes the importance of maintaining strong relationships with manufacturers, supporting dealership success, promoting campground growth, and helping associate members connect with industry decision-makers.
Florida remains one of the strongest RV markets in North America, and Ken believes the FRVTA is uniquely positioned to help members capitalize on future opportunities while navigating industry challenges.
A Lifelong Passion for the RV Lifestyle
While his professional accomplishments are extensive, Ken’s connection to RVing is also deeply personal.
He has been camping since the age of eight and spent years traveling with his family in RVs. Between 2004 and 2016, Ken and his wife Patty owned five travel trailers and spent four years full-timing after relocating to Florida.
That firsthand experience gives him an appreciation for the consumer perspective and a genuine understanding of the lifestyle that drives the industry.
His passion for RVing remains one of the reasons he is so committed to supporting the businesses and professionals who make the lifestyle possible for millions of consumers.
Looking Ahead
The RV industry continues to evolve through new technologies, changing consumer preferences, and continued growth in outdoor recreation. As the FRVTA enters its next chapter, Ken brings a unique combination of association leadership, business experience, campground operations expertise, marketing knowledge, and personal passion for RVing.
For members across every segment of the industry, his appointment represents both continuity and opportunity.
With a strong foundation already in place and a clear vision for the future, Ken is committed to ensuring that the FRVTA remains a respected industry leader, a valuable resource for its members, and a strong advocate for the continued growth of RVing in Florida and beyond.
Long before becoming Executive Director, Ken dedicated countless hours to supporting the FRVTA and its members.
