The Florida RV Trade Association officially entered a new chapter on April 18, 2026, as Ken Loyd assumed the role of Executive Director following the retirement transition of previous Executive Director Dave Kelly.
After being hired in October 2025 to work alongside Dave during the transition period, Ken now takes the helm of the FRVTA with a clear vision for the future of the association and the RV industry in Florida. His focus is centered on strengthening the FRVTA’s position as a leader within the state while also elevating the association’s influence and recognition nationwide.
For many FRVTA members, Ken is already a familiar face.
Longtime FRVTA Leadership and Industry Experience
Before becoming Executive Director, Ken served as General Manager of Keystone Heights RV Resort and previously held leadership positions with Flamingo Lake RV Resort in Jacksonville, where he served as Assistant General Manager, Vice President, and Director of Marketing until the resort’s sale to Sun RV Resorts in 2020.
Ken’s involvement with the FRVTA itself spans many years. He previously served on the FRVTA Executive Board of Directors and was President of Region 6 from 2016 through 2020. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Florida/Alabama Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds, giving him a broad understanding of both campground and association operations throughout the Southeast.
That combination of association leadership, campground management, marketing experience, and operational oversight provides Ken with a unique perspective as he steps into the Executive Director role.
A Strong Background in Business and Operations
Throughout his career, Ken has consistently focused on relationship-building, strategic growth, and consumer engagement — areas he believes are critical to the continued success of the RV industry.
Prior to entering the RV and hospitality sectors, Ken built an extensive background in business management, logistics, retail operations, and sales leadership. He began his professional career with Burris Logistics in Delaware at the age of 19, eventually rising to Southeast Region Sales Manager.
He later held leadership positions with Hanover Foods Corporation and Crossmark Sales and Marketing, where he advanced from analyst and consultant roles into Retail Operations Management.
His business background, combined with years of direct RV industry experience, positions him well to lead the FRVTA through a rapidly evolving marketplace.
A Personal Connection to the RV Lifestyle
Ken also brings something equally important to the role — firsthand knowledge of the RV lifestyle.
A lifelong camper since the age of eight, Ken and his wife Patty became avid RVers over the years, owning five travel trailers between 2004 and 2016 while spending four years full-timing after relocating to Florida.
That personal connection to RVing has helped shape his understanding of consumer trends, campground expectations, and the importance of preserving the experiences that continue attracting new people to the lifestyle.
Industry professionals who have worked alongside Ken over the years know him as someone deeply committed to the growth of RVing in Florida and the continued strength of the association.
Priorities for the Future of the FRVTA
As Executive Director, Ken is expected to focus heavily on strengthening member engagement, enhancing industry partnerships, supporting the association’s regional leadership structure, and continuing to grow the FRVTA’s statewide events and consumer outreach efforts.
With Florida continuing to lead the nation in RV tourism, campground growth, and RV show attendance, Ken steps into the role during an important period for the industry. Consumer demand for RV travel remains strong, while new technologies, evolving demographics, and changing travel trends continue reshaping the marketplace.
Ken believes the FRVTA is uniquely positioned to help guide the industry through that growth while continuing to support dealers, campgrounds, vendors, manufacturers, and associate members throughout the state.
A Lifelong Passion Beyond the RV Industry
Outside of the industry, Ken remains passionate about dirt track racing, a lifelong interest that began during childhood in West Virginia. He has worked on race teams, occasionally driven sprint cars, and previously served as Assistant Promotions Director at both Pennsboro Speedway and Interstate Speedway.
Ken’s personal story also includes overcoming significant challenges early in life. At just nine months old, he underwent open heart surgery in 1964, an extremely rare procedure for an infant at the time. He credits faith, family, skilled doctors, and perseverance for helping shape the outlook that continues to guide him today.
Most importantly, Ken remains deeply family-oriented and frequently speaks about the pride he has in his wife Patty, their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the family goldendoodle Tanner.
Looking Ahead
As the FRVTA moves forward under new leadership, members can expect Ken’s combination of industry knowledge, operational experience, and passion for RVing to help guide the association into its next era of growth and leadership.
