The pace has been set in Tallahassee as we’re already into the fourth week of the 60-day Legislative Session. Meanwhile, the issues shaping the remainder of the Session are becoming clearer by the day.

Election Watch

The only election currently on our radar is the open Florida Senate seat (District 14) consisting of parts of Hillsborough County, where State Rep. Josie Tomkow remains the heavy favorite. Her campaign continues to operate at full speed, with consistent door-knocking and voter engagement every week. If you live in the district, expect a sustained and highly visible effort as her team works to turn momentum into a decisive win.

Our Priority Legislation

Progress continues on our top legislative priority  (HB 39 and SB 118). In the Florida House, Representative Danny Nix has done an excellent job carrying the bill, which is now cleared and ready for a vote on the full House floor after passing its three committee stops.

In the Florida Senate, Senator Truenow has two remaining committee stops before advancing to the Senate floor.

Property Taxes & Special Session Watch

Property taxes continue to dominate conversations around the Capitol. While the Florida House has advanced several proposals aimed at reform, the Senate has not yet put forward a plan of its own. At the same time, Governor DeSantis continues to publicly call for meaningful reform. With the chambers at an impasse, a special session focused on property tax reform is increasingly likely.

Congressional Maps Ahead

Another issue expected to bring lawmakers back to Tallahassee is congressional redistricting. The Governor has already directed the legislature to begin organizing for a special session following the conclusion of the 60-day regular session to address congressional district maps. These discussions are expected to be fast-moving and high-stakes.

Looking Ahead

Special sessions, floor votes, and major policy decisions are all looming. As always, we’ll continue to keep you informed and ready to engage when it matters most.

Thank you for your continued support of the PAC as it remains essential to advancing and protecting our shared priorities.

Best,
