A driver license or identification card from any foreign country (other than Canada) is not an acceptable form of ID.

If the driver license or passport is expired, it is not an acceptable form if ID.

An International Driver License from any country (including Canada) is not an acceptable form of ID since it was not issued by a government agency.

You must photocopy all acceptable forms of ID that you obtain from your customers. When applying for a Florida title, if the customer already has a Florida driver license or Florida ID card, you do not need to submit a copy of that document to the tag agency. Instead, you must submit the driver license or ID card number.

When applying for a Florida title, if the customer provides a U.S. or foreign passport or a driver license or ID card from another state or from Canada, you must submit a copy of that document to the tag agency so that a record can be created for that customer in the Florida Real Time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS) data base.

When applying for a Florida title in the name of a business, the DMS states:

“You should request documentation to prove the validity of a business, such as copies of governmentally filed FEID documents, fictitious name documents, corporation papers, “Certificate of Status” from the Department of State, etc. However, this proof would not be required to be submitted to the department. When the applicant is a business, it must provide a federal employer identification number, if applicable, verification that the business is authorized to conduct business in the state, or a Florida city or county business license or number.

Visit the Department of State’s website to search for Florida companies, corporations,
etc. http://www.sunbiz.org/search.html.”
